This group was formerly called Classical Music, but is now under new leadership, hence the change of name.
In June 2024 our theme was 'Classical Summertime' and, with the rain pouring down outside, we listened to 'A Midsummer Nights Dream', Beethoven's Pastoral symphony, and Summertime from Gershwin's Porgy and Bess. Also included were several summery pieces of Spanish guitar music.
At the July meeting the theme was The Evolution of Keyboard Instruments from the harpsichord to the modern concert grand piano.
In August we will hear about 18th century Italian violin makers, and view a film called 'The Red Violin'.
