Crowborough

Groups

You must be a paid up member of Crowborough u3a before you can join interest groups. This is an insurance requirement. However, up to three taster sessions (but only one per group) are available if you are deciding whether the u3a is for you.

The majority of groups are held monthly or fortnightly in members' homes either at 10 am in the morning or 2 pm in the afternoon. Several other groups meet in hired venues or even local cafes. For further information please contact the Group Leader through the link on the relevant group page.

Refreshments are usually provided and we ask members to make a contribution towards the cost of refreshments. Groups are self-financing so the cost of hiring a venue, etc. will be borne by the group.

The size of a group is limited by the venue used and the facilities available. Some group have only a handful of members, others that meet in a large venue, can be as large as 50 or more.  The list below shows the group's status as either "Active" or "Waiting list".  When you click on the group's name (underlined in blue) a new page opens describing the group in much more detail.

If you wish to join an interest group that is listed as "Active", please contact the group's leader, who can be contacted via the website. If you wish to join an interest group that has a waiting list, please do not contact the group leader; instead, register your interest with the Waiting Lists Manager, using this link Waiting List Manager . The Waiting Lists Manager will try to add you to the group as soon as there is a space; alternatively, should there be sufficient interest to form a new group in that subject area, you will be invited to a meeting to set up that group, at which the most convenient day to meet can be discussed.

If you are unable to find a group that suits your own particular interest or enthusiasm, please feel free to ask the New Groups Convenor to set up a group on that topic. She will advertise the idea to all Crowborough u3a members.

The list of potential groups under consideration is on this page - Potential new groups
