The group was formed at the beginning of 2025 to consider how we can live more sustainably and improve local biodiversity. The focus is on changes you and your family can make. So far we have looked at steps to reduce food waste, the scourge of single-use plastics, the planning system in relation to sustainable homes and communities, heat pumps, solar panels and improving home insulation.
Future sessions will include: growing your own fruit & veg, sustainable fashion, make do & mend, starting a compost heap or wormery, nuclear power - green or not?, how are mixed recyclables sorted, the Community Pantry, grey water systems, and community allotments & farms.
We generally meet for monthly discussions in Wetherspoons; but when we can we like to do site visits.
Following the principles of u3a, all members of the group are expected to take their turn in planning a session.
There is room for the group to grow – why not come join us for a taster session.
