Sea shanties teach us something about maritime heritage as they all tell a story. The main point of this group is to get together and have fun, don’t worry overmuch about being off-key. Limited singing talent does not bar membership of the crew but any reasonably tuneful singers would certainly benefit the rest of us!
If anybody plays an appropriate musical instrument they are welcome to bring that along. Suitable instruments would be guitar, ukulele, banjo, violin, melodian, concertina, mouth organ, or a whole plethora of percussion instruments. Reading the dots isn’t required.
To keep it real it would need to be spontaneous as it would have been in the time of square riggers and press gangs.
